Monitoring Ping Performance
Nodinite empowers you to proactively monitor Ping (ICMP) performance between your Windows Servers and any "pingable" device. This feature helps you detect network issues, receive real-time alerts, and access actionable metrics for continuous improvement.
✅ Instantly monitor connectivity to any device or endpoint
✅ Set custom thresholds for response times and receive timely alerts
✅ Access detailed metrics and historical statistics for informed decision-making
✅ Actionable alerts and Remote Actions within role-based Monitor Viewsto resolve issues fast
This page explains how Nodinite monitors the Ping Category using one or more role-based Monitor Views. You can configure state evaluation based on user-defined thresholds—either global or specific. Remote commands (Actions) are available to help you swiftly address reported problems. All implemented Remote Actions are detailed below.

Monitoring Features
- Manually manage your Ping configurations. Sharing insights is easy with Monitor Views.
- State Evaluation – Set user-defined thresholds for a given duration to evaluate connectivity health.
- Category-based monitoring – Group monitored Resources by Categories for streamlined management.
State evaluation for Ping-based monitoring
Nodinite displays each monitored Ping configuration as a Resources. For example, if you have 2 Windows Server configurations with 2 and 3 ping configurations, you will have 5 'Ping' resources in Nodinite.
The Resources name matches the name of the ping configuration.
The 'Ping' resource belongs to the following Category:
Category Description Ping Ensure Ping configurations stay within user-defined monitoring thresholds
List of the Ping-related category as a filter in a Monitor View. The Application name is the Display Name from the configuration of the monitored Windows Server:

Each item (presented in Nodinite as a Resource) is evaluated with a state: OK, Warning, Error, or Unavailable.
You can reconfigure state evaluation at the Resources level using the Expected State feature.
Note
Depending on the user-defined synchronization interval for the Windows Server Monitoring Agent, there may be a delay before Nodinite Web Client/Monitor Views reflect changes. Click Sync All (or use the dropdown for individual agent selection) to force a resynchronization.

Monitoring Ping
For the Ping category, Nodinite evaluates the monitored state as described below:
State | Status | Description | Actions | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Unavailable | Service not available | The server can't be reached or evaluated due to network or security issues | Review prerequisites | |
Error | Error state raised | * The 'Ping' configuration is invalid |

.
Ping General Tab
- Name – The display name for this Ping configuration, also becomes the Resource name in Monitor Views
- Description – User-friendly short description for this configuration.
- Target (Host name or IP-address) – The target Host Name or IP-address of the device to ping from 'localhost'
Ping Thresholds Tab
Example of the 'Ping thresholds' tab.
- Response time Warning threshold (ms) – If the response time exceeds this threshold for more than 60 seconds (Duration), a Warning is raised.
- Response time Error threshold (ms) – If the response time exceeds this threshold for more than 60 seconds (Duration), an Error is raised.
- Duration (s) – Alert when the ping response time consistently breaches this duration (3-3600 seconds).
